The first delicious treat is one of our favorite whites from Ferrari-Carano, their Bella Luce. Bella Luce, which means “beautiful light” in Italian — is the sister wine to FC’s SIENA and Pinot Grigio. The goal of Bella Luce was to create a fragrant and light white wine blend from varietals that would complement one another in aromas, flavors and texture. Chardonnay, Muscat Canelli, Semillon, Muscat Giallo, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Riesling were blended with no oak aging to allow the beautiful flavors of the grapes to express themselves without heaviness. This lovely white offers up delicious layers of peach, vanilla and floral aromas, and wisps of orange blossom, pear and lime. Distinctive and round on the palate, Bella Luce’s flavors of cream, vanilla, citrus, and apple shine through. This wine is a stunning centerpiece and needs no pairing to be enjoyed, but if you like you can pair with shellfish, light pasta dishes, or light appetizers. We have a great sale going on with Bella Luce right now, so be sure to snap up a few bottles at this price while you still can!
We are also introducing a nice little Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from Italy called Gran
Sasso. The Gran Sasso wines are from Ortona, in the Abruzzo region of Italian’s eastern coast. Marco Flacco is the winemaker here and has made a range of wines with a freshness and vivacity that is sometimes lacking in wines from this area. The Gran Sasso is a deep-colored, clean and plummy young Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. This nice, soft red is delicious all by itself, or a nice accompaniment to pizza, pasta, cheese, or lighter meats.
We have a beautiful new Moscato d’Asti from Ecco Domani this week called Mia Dolcea. This Moscato d’Asti opens with sweet and creamy aromas of pineapple, lychee, dried apricot and honey. An elegant palate of fresh stone fruit and juicy peach gives way to floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. The creamy sweetness of this wine is balanced by a refreshing acidity, a delicate mouthfeel and a smooth finish. This delightful sweetie has that northern Italian sparkle we love, and its breathtaking floral notes and mouth-watering yet light sweetness are sure to thrill our sweet wine lovers. Molto bene!
Please join us Friday night, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. to enjoy these wines and chat with our staff! We look forward to seeing you.
