Night Court Judge/Winemaker:
Shinas Estate wines are some of our favorite Australian wines in the shop. Winemaker, George Shinas is an enigmatic night court judge/ winemaker. His grapes grow in the Northeast region of Victoria where vines were first planted in 1886. Eight generations of grape growing and wine producing lends pedigree to these wines. The vines are gnarly and struggle to stay alive in limitless drought and testy soils. One thing is for sure, vines that work hard, produce premium fruit. Shinas is known for leaving his grapes on the vine longer than most winemakers in the region. Thus, his wines are powerful, unique and beautiful from the Sweet Justice (Moscato), to the reserve wine (Executioner). It is exciting to have varietals to suit all palettes in this family of wines. We even have a rare 2007 vintage of the Executioner available.
