Bourbon Recipe: Commonwealth Punch
1 C granulated sugar
4 C water
8 Chai tea bags
I C bourbon
1 12 oz can of ginger beer (Reed’s, Barrett’s or Goslings) assorted cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise for garnish
Peel 6 lemons with a potato peeler. Put the peels and sugar in a bowl. Crush the peels in the bowl and allow to sit for one hour. Juice the lemons and strain out the pulp. Brew the 8 chai tea bags in 4 cups of water. Dissolve the lemon peel and sugar mixture into the tea. Add the bourbon and the lemon juice. Chill in the refrigerator and add the can of ginger beer before you serve. Garnish with floating lemon wheels.
