Caymus Winery: California in a Glass
This week we were very fortunate to attend a winemaker’s reception at Nashville’s historic Hermitage Hotel celebrating Caymus Winery. This revered Rutherford, California winery has been growing grapes for three generations, and the Wagner family has been involved in Napa Valley agriculture far longer than that. Winemaking is in the heart and soul of this special family, and their wines reflect the unique terroir of that beautiful land. Winemaker Joe Wagner was on hand at the reception to meet industry folks and to talk about his family history, his winemaking philosophy, and the 2012 harvest.
Caymus not only makes two world-class Cabernet Sauvignons; the winery also produces several other wines you may have heard of. Mer Soleil Chardonnay, Conundrum red and white blends, Meiomi Pinot Noir, and the stunning single-vineyard Belle Glos Pinot Noir series are all Caymus wines.
We have always loved Caymus wines, and we thought we carried them all. However, we found two newly-released ones at the reception! We quickly snapped them up, and they will make their way to our shelves very soon. Look for special prices on these amazing wines in coming weeks. We hope you will explore these beautiful slices of California!
