Chris Williams traded motorcycle parts for a career in wine making. He shared a love for Moto Guzzi motorcycles with winemaker, Jimi Brooks. And, he met him when he sold Brooks some parts for his older Moto Guzzi. They forged a friendship that would lead Chris into wine making, working for Jimi. The story behind the winery is a tale about a community coming together. Winemaker, Jimi Brooks passed away suddenly in 2004 from a brain aneurysm the night before harvest. The next day folks from all around helped everyone at Brooks harvest their grapes. Native Oregonian and Jim’s sister, Janie Brooks Heuck stepped up to manage the winery. While Chris continued to make the wine as Jimi had taught him. Jimi’s son, Paschal Brooks owns the winery and is currently studying agriculture in California. I had the pleasure of visiting Brooks last Summer in Amity, Oregon. The tasting room is a true gathering place complete with a RastaBar where you can grab a bite while you sip delicious wine. Wine lovers around the area come to gather at the winery for food and wine events overlooking the gorgeous Eola- Amity Hills AVA. The wines that Chris makes are fabulous and made in Jimi’s innovative ways. Predominantly estate fruit goes into these wines. The Winemaker revels in the challenge of growing Riesling grapes. Therefore, many single vineyard Alsace and Mosel style Rieslings are a large part of their portfolio.
Enjoy these wines this evening at the shop at the tasting table tonight from 4-7 P.M. They will be discounted 15% this weekend!
