Two new single barrel Bourbons have landed at the shop. Our 2017 Knob Creek Barrel comes in ages 11 years and nine months and has been bottled at 120 proof. We combined two barrels to create a beautiful Bourbon that we are excited to offer.

Recently we drove up to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky to visit Eddie Russell, one of the master distillers of Wild Turkey. Eddie has been at Wild Turkey for thirty five years with his father, Jimmy Russell. The two have very different tastes in whiskey and that seems to translate into a harmony of opposites. With Eddie and Jimmy at the helm of Wild Turkey tradition and innovation blend to make Bourbon that consistently pulls no punches. After tasting several barrels of what will be Russell’s Reserve, we chose a lovely and complex ten year old Bourbon. Fruit and baking spices leap out of a glass at barrel proof. The whiskey has a creamy body that reminds me of an orange dreamsicle. A spicy finish lingers like a long Summer Day. Fruit buckles and upside down cakes come to mind. I can’t wait for this one to hit our shelves. Look for this whiskey in April, just in time for the warm weather!

For the first time ever, we selected our own blend of Woodford Reserve. Master Distiller, Chis Morris has been at Woodford Reserve since the early days of the historic distillery. This man, who trained under Lincoln Henderson, truly knows his Bourbon. His careful oversight ensures that every bottle of Woodford lives up to his high expectations. We were honored to sit down with him and taste six different barrels of Woodford Reserve. Chris led us through the tasting as we chose a perfect blend of two different barrels. We are very happy with our choice and cannot wait to share it with our customers. We think you will enjoy the fruit and the finish on this selection. The best qualities of the individual barrels shine through. Look for this on the shelves in the coming weeks.
